Classes

Accelerated Ballet

Ages 5+
By invitation only, these ballet classes are for students who show the potential to train at a higher level, are focused and self-disciplined, and are interested in working hard to improve at an accelerated pace. The accelerated ballet program gives students who are ready to be challenged the opportunity to train in a more professional environment, alongside other talented and hard-working dancers.

Acro

Ages 4+
Acro is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with acrobatics. We are inspired by the beautiful professional dance performances of Cirque du Soleil and want to harness that joyful movement in our Acro classes!

Unlike conventional gymnastics, we do not use an apparatus in this class. The tricks performed in this class are typically taught on mats and eventually move to the floor. Students in this class will improve their strength and flexibility to execute the moves demonstrated in an Acro routine safely. This fun and dynamic class is a favourite for kids who are always on the move and is offered at several levels to accommodate the various degrees of expertise and strength.

*NOTE FOR ACRO 2+ STUDENTS*
Students who wish to enroll in an acro class level 2 or higher will now be required to take an additional weekly class in either ballet or jazz.

Acro is a form of dance that incorporates gymnastic-inspired movements, but still requires some dance skills that may not be covered in the acro class itself. As our acro 2+ students get older and begin to learn more advanced skills, we will require them to know how to fully stretch their legs, point their toes to the end and have a coordinated relationship with their bodies in order to create aesthetically pleasing lines, while executing their acro moves and formations.  For these reasons the additional weekly dance class is necessary.

Ballet

Ballet offers students a sense of discipline and achievement and is an excellent foundation for all dance styles! Our students will become familiar with training at the barre and in the centre, gaining confidence by executing a series of classical ballet exercises. Our class focuses on developing strength, posture, coordination and musical awareness.

Ballet 5

Ages 10-11

Ballet 5/6

Ages 10-13

Hip Hop

Ages 4+
Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside the box by bringing their style and personality to the movements. The class includes upper and lower body conditioning and a rigorous warm-up to help prepare the students for more intense movements.

Jazz

Ages 4+

Jazz is a lively and expressive dance form that combines contemporary moves with classic ballet technique. This is a high-energy class loaded with fun that encourages rhythm, coordination, strength, and flexibility. We typically divide our jazz class into three parts: warm-up, across the floor, and choreography.

A jazz class’s pace is much quicker than a ballet class and is conducive to high-energy dancers who like to jump and move. Many of the entertaining moves taught in jazz classes are commonly seen in Broadway shows and musicals. Music in this class ranges from the current top 40 tunes on the radio to classic rock, pop, and jazz songs with an upbeat tempo.

Lyrical

Ages 8+
Express yourself! Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet, modern, and jazz techniques. We set the dances to music with vocals and let the choreography tell the story. Lyrical dance uses gestures, emotions, and drama. The method in a lyrical class is more contemporary than conventional and is very expressive.

Since this class focuses primarily on choreography, it is recommended for dancers who have had training in other dance disciplines and it is a prerequisite that they are currently taking at least one additional jazz or ballet class.

Modern

Ages 8+
Modern is an expressive form of dance that explores the movement of the body and the expression of emotion through dance and the elements surrounding us. These classes will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time, and force to develop technical proficiency, musicality, and rhythmic accuracy. By not teaching one specific modern technique, we aim to educate our students on multiple professional methods and encourage them to express their creativity and grow their movement vocabulary through improvisation.

Musical Theatre

Ages 4+

Musical theatre is a comprehensive triple threat program combining the art of singing, acting, and dancing. Drama games and exercises are used to promote improvisation and trust, ensuring that all of the dancers develop greater self-confidence when performing. We emphasize learning performance skills, such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions. Skills, including theatre dance, partnering, acting, character development, and chorus singing, will be additional.

This entertaining class is fun for everyone but might be best suited for performers with big personalities or those who are eager to break out of their shell!

Tap

Ages 4+
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level, the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
