The Competitive Dance Program at Leslieville School of Dance & Music
At Leslieville School of Dance & Music (LSDM), our Competitive Dance Program is designed for passionate, dedicated dancers ages 6 and up who are ready to challenge themselves, refine their technique, and shine on stage. We provide a structured yet supportive environment where students not only advance their training but also experience the excitement of multiple performance opportunities throughout the year.
Why Choose LSDM’s Competitive Program?
What sets our program apart is our balanced approach: while we emphasize technical excellence and artistry, we also prioritize personal growth, teamwork, and a love for dance. Competitions are not just about awards; they are opportunities for dancers to set goals, build resilience, and celebrate their progress while learning from peers and industry professionals.
Training & Opportunities
Competitive dancers at LSDM train 4–20 hours per week and participate in 3–4 competitions per season. Beyond their regular training, dancers may be invited to take part in extra group routines, solos, duets, and trios, allowing them to both showcase their individuality and collaborate in more intimate settings.
Program Streams
We are proud to offer several competitive pathways, tailored to different ages and levels of commitment:
-
Pre-Competitive Team (Ages 9–12)
Designed for students who aspire to compete in the future, this program provides focused technical training with four dedicated weekly classes. Pre-competitive dancers do not attend competitions but gain valuable stage experience through our annual competitive showcase.
-
Part-Time Competitive Teams (Ages 6–18)
With 4–6 hours of weekly training, dancers in this program are prepared for competition and attend three competitions per season. This option offers a balance between commitment and flexibility.
-
Full-Time Competitive Teams (Ages 6–18)
Our most intensive stream, this program includes 7–20 hours of training per week. Full-time dancers receive comprehensive training across multiple styles and compete in four competitions per season.
Beyond Technique: Life Skills Through Dance
Our curriculum goes beyond choreography and movement. Competitive dancers develop discipline, time management, teamwork, and camaraderie, skills that benefit them both inside and outside the studio. At LSDM, we believe that being a successful competitive dancer means more than strong technique; it also requires focus, determination, and joy in the process.
Experienced Faculty, Supportive Community
Our highly trained instructors provide individualized attention, mentorship, and encouragement. We foster an environment where dancers are motivated to reach their full potential while feeling supported every step of the way.
At Leslieville School of Dance & Music, competition is not just about trophies, it’s about growth, artistry, and building lifelong skills. Join us, and take your dancing to the next level.
